Guillaume Adjutor Provost is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and educator who experiments with exhibition forms, collections, text, and curation. His artistic approach revolves around the reactivation of forms and narratives often relegated to the periphery of dominant discourses: class consciousness, counterculture, vernacular and grassroots imagery. His projects frequently take the form of exhibitions, in which collaboration with other creators and thinkers plays a key role. Guillaume Adjutor's works question the logic of visibility and concealment by highlighting how exhibitions simultaneously select, order, prioritize, and reveal. He thus questions the status of the cultural object, the relationship between material and imaginary archives, and the ways in which popular forms can circulate or resist within art institutions.
Born in the Outaouais region, Guillaume Adjutor Provost is a professor of sculpture at the Université de Moncton in New Brunswick. He is the recipient of grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Grant. He was also a finalist for the Pierre Ayot Prize (2016, 2019) and the Sobey Award (2021). His work has been presented in more than twenty solo exhibitions and as many group exhibitions in Canada, France, Spain, Austria, Lithuania, Germany, and Switzerland.

Guillaume Adjutor Provost est un artiste interdisciplinaire, chercheur et éducateur qui expérimente avec les formes de l’exposition, les collections, le texte et le commissariat. Sa démarche artistique s’articule autour de la réactivation de formes et de récits souvent relégués en périphérie des discours dominants : la conscience de classe, la contre-culture, l’imagerie vernaculaire et populaire (grass roots). Ses projets prennent fréquemment la forme d’expositions où la collaboration avec d’autres créateurs/trices et penseur-es joue un rôle déterminant. Les œuvres de Guillaume Adjutor interrogent les logiques de visibilité et de dissimulation en soulignant comment les expositions sélectionnent, ordonnent, hiérarchisent et révèlent simultanément. Il interroge ainsi le statut de l’objet culturel, le rapport entre archives matérielles et imaginaires, ainsi que la manière dont les formes populaires peuvent circuler ou résister au sein des institutions artistiques.
Né en Outaouais, Guillaume Adjutor Provost est professeur de sculpture à l’Université de Moncton au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il est récipiendaire de bourses du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, du Conseil des arts du Canada et de la bourse Claudine et Stephen Bronfman, il a également été finaliste au prix Pierre-Ayot (2016, 2019) et au prix Sobey (2021). Ses œuvres ont été présentées dans plus de vingt expositions solos et autant d'expositions collectives au Canada, en France, en Espagne, en Autriche, en Lituanie, en Allemagne et en Suisse.
